I got a free sample pouch of Lane's Troost, a cavendish. It was out of curiosity, I didn't expect much. In a briar, I was right, not very good. Then I tried it in a MacArthur cob. It was a wonderful smoke.
Interesting that there is that much difference between the cob and the briar. I wonder how much of the improvement was to the fact that the cob was a deep bowl.
Jiminks: I am unable to describe the flavor, but the review referenced after your comment describes it well. It was boring in a briar, which goes along with the reviewer who calls it one dimensional. For some reason I can't explain, it came alive in the cob. It was a new unsmoked Macarthur.
