I found a 1.5" cube of this I took in trade, dry as a bone. Tried to cut it, flakes and crumbs every where.
Split it in half along the "grain" of layers and crumbled half.
Getting a deep sweetness and some pepper, challenging to keep lit, as the crumbled consistency is some dust and some "TetraMin" flake fish food.
I'm liking it, though. Not sure how the DFK is representing itself. Having a bit of trouble separating out the flavors.
So, tell us about your Triple Play experiences.

Triple Play was my first plug, and an immediate hit with me. I've been so busy exploring the vast sea of blends, I have yet to order it again, but I will. I do have some Jack Knife unopened. Just too much good blending going on. TP has strength, complexity, and balance and yet isn't harsh. It's what a good blend needs to be.

I noticed several TR references to the burley-like nuttiness.
I'm not getting that. Maybe the extreme dryness allows the other flavors to take over?
I am enjoying how the perique is presenting itself. Plummy AND peppery in equal doses.

Some guys live on this stuff. Triple Play is a good blend, but there are others I prefer.
Btw jay, if you split the plug in half along the grain, you're only getting half the blend. Rehydrate and slice it against the grain.

Solid blend but nothing that will have me ordering again soon. Being larger pieces of leaf pressed together mine took a bit more effort then usual to prepare. Lots of sticks, occasional 2x4. Room note could not be too enjoyable for others around. Consistent in a very full, earthy, musty taste. Found the strength in nic low. Nothing exciting stepped forward for me.Was a fresh tin and I still have a 5 year old 8oz tin in the cellar. Not sure if I will trade it off or try it aged. 8 oz of this will give you a lot of long smokes!
Looking forward to trying Jack Knife.

Weezell sent me some a while back and it went moldy before I could smoke it. Apparently this is a recurring issue with this plug but before it became blue cheese it sure looked interesting. Who makes the stuff?

Triple Play is a great blend. I was loving Cumberland when I tried it, and they’re both regulars for me ever since. The DFK and VA probably lead together with the Perique a bit less prominent. Cut against the grain, I’ve found a fish filleting knife is pretty good and if kept sharp can slice off 1/16” slices without too much effort. (That I rub out) If you like TP I think you’ll probably like Cumberland too. I would rate the nic hit medium for me. A good bit less than a rope, but def more than a VA.

I'm just finishing my first tin, and I really like the stuff. I use a double-bladed guillotine cigar cutter for all my plugs. Cut against the grain and basically because of the angles, you're only shaving the edges off with this method, so you end up with a very fine and short mix this way. Some plugs are too tall, so I have to try to get an even mix off shavings starting from the top and bottom if that makes sense. Triple Play I can usually just get the whole plug into the hole in the cutter. I usually have to let it dry for about 20-25 minutes after shaving and rubbing.
It starts off very meaty. I've heard references to that umami sensation, and I get that. A Korean reviewer on Smoking Pipes mentioned Bibimbap, and I see that, too. About halfway in, there's more sweetness and some dried fruits, along with the occasional caramelized VA sweetness, though It's never a super sweet blend. A lot of body to the smoke and a satisfying medium-strong nicotine hit. I feel like I can taste all the components, but it's well-blended, so none stick out all that much from the others. That said, I think the perique is the most easily noticed.

Like all the Pease blends aside from Stonehenge Flake, I believe it's made by C&D.
