So I finally was able to get some of the Dunhill London Mixture, I chose this one because I figured it would be a good one to start on.
Sadly, I think I am just a aromatic pipe guy. It was a nice smoke, but the "woody" smell and taste did nothing for me overall.
So I am wondering if I am missing something, or is truly just a preference that people like aromatics to the non-aromatics.
Rest assured, the tin won't go to waste, it will be the back up when running low between buys.

Sounds like something I'd like, love the woody taste in some tobacos.

This would be right up your alley then :) I don't know how the other blends are, but now hesitant to buy them.

I think the latakia blends are a bit of an acquired taste. Squirrel the tin away and come back to it in a few months.

I for one can't get into 965. I know that's sacrilege, but I've tried more than 5 times and it just doesn't do it for me. I've got a 4-5 year old tin of the London Mixture aging for a cold winter's day some time though. Haven't tried it yet either.
To tell the truth, my favorite Dunhill mix is Nightcap.

I've tried both Early Morning Pipe and Nightcap and liked them both! Looks like I will be trying out London Mixture and 965 soon.

Danboston, you might just want to try an English (eventually) outside of the Dunhill/Orlik camp. Look to a different blender for an English blend, like McClelland or something by Esoterica should you decided to explore latakia once more. You may find that you prefer the way another house mixes up or sauces a particular leaf.
