I had it years ago, and I was supposed to wait 4 weeks! Of course, I was smoking cigarettes then, and I only actually lasted a week and a half(but I was still fine) ? . I would guess it'd be about the same today with a pipe, given the current state of medicine.

If I have a sore throat or a respiratory tract infection (cold, bronchitis, laryngitis or sinusitis) I usually wait for 1-2 weeks after ALL my symptoms have settled before smoking again.

I find that the cough and hoarse voice takes forever to go. Smoking will definitely prolong those symptoms.

Lots of warm salt water gargles help.

so yeah. I have just had Tonsillitis. Has anyone had it before that knows how long i should wait before i smoke my beloved pipe again?
I simply had them removed. No muss nor fuss and, lots nurses bring iced cream. A couple of days of spa-like treatment, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Of course I was only six.

Or, you can like some, and simply power through it.

Of all my spare parts, Tonsils have not rebelled.....yet. Here's to a speedy recovery, I wouldn't push it or you risk prolonging the problem. Just think of how fresh everything will taste once the healing is complete.

Ya hear that? Be a man and get over it! :ROFLMAO:

Or you can be a smart and educated man and lay off it for now. Like any proper rehab cycle, it's best to be back to 100% before you reengage in a stressful actitivty, and usually that's just a little longer than your body *feels* right again.

On this topic, I would defer to your medical professional and not some idiot on the internet.

This will rile a few but, I doubt smart, educated men smoke. Only us dolts, Some us are educated but, that doesn't mean we take care of ourselves. A wise man doesn't seek medical advice on a smoker's forum. He starts with his General Practitioner. Or, at least a well respected medical center site.

That was my point too.

I miss it so much!
Never had tonsillitis but had some pretty harsh sore throats. Usually wait until the symptoms go away before I start up the pipe again. Also when I'm sick I don't always feel up to having a pipe or drinking a scotch so it isn't so bad. get healthy soon!

I hope and wish you a speedy recovery. I have chronic pharyngitis. So far so good. For me, it is fatal to drink very cold or iced drinks. Fingers crossed.
