I picked up two new pipes to add to the stable.
First, a Tonni Neilsen bent brandy. I have always wanted a Tonni Neilsen pipe and just had to grab this one when I saw it, especially because the bent brandy is one of my favourite shapes. I have heard Tonni's stemwork is second to none and I am anxious to see if that is true.
The second pipe is a Nate King bent egg in olive wood. I have never had a olive wood pipe before, and really wonder how one will smoke. Does anyone out there have any experience with one?

I had an olive wood also. I really liked it. The stem broke and I gave it away. I've always been looking for another since then. Being a Nate King on top of that I'm sure you will enjoy it. Very nice pipes you got. I love the stem on the Nate King. Let us know how you like the olive wood.

Olive wood makes a beautiful pipe for sure! I'm sure it will smoke like a champ. Great score Peck...

Peck I have a few Davorin Olive wood Pipes and if they are aged properly, they are fantastic smokes...I've had olives from other carvers who did not age their olive properly and they smoked horribly...

I love both of these carvers. Tonni's stem are the cat's meow. I can't think of any better. Nate King is just a wonderful technician with a great eye for style.

Summoned up nicely by kcghost. I met both at Richmond last year and was able to handle pipes from both. I'm curious as to how the olivewood smokes for you, I've never had that wood either. The pipes on Tonni's table were really amazing.

Yo peck - most bodacious pickups there, and the olivewood NK is spectacular!!. I have a bunch of olives, getting them before I started my Virginias Project. Reputedly they made Latakia flavor really pop, and particularly in the first dozen or so bowls, they do. I am guessing the olive oil vaporizing out of the wood solubilitizes some of the Latakia specific flavor compounds, or at least makes them more accessible to our olfactory senses, in the same way that cooking oil develops the flavors of curry and pepper. But as it turns out, I really like the olive effect on Virginias, most noticeable in the light brights.

Absolutely beautiful pipes Peck, I don't have an olive wood, but have often wondered how they smoke. Do let us know what you think sir.

Great pipes, Peck. The Nielsen in particular. I love his sense of shape. I think his stuff, being somewhat understated (usually), gets less notice right now than the work of some other makers, but I wonder if his stuff won't be even better appreciated down the road. In any case, it looks like a wonderful pipe.
As for olive wood, I totally concur with lestrout. I had heard the "Latakia pops" line before, but I found that VAs were even better in the olive wood. Mine actually smells and tastes (surprise) like olive wood, which is a nice flavor in its own right, whatever else it does to the tobacco smoke.

Peck, the Tonni Nielsen is fabulastic! I only have some of Tonni's pipes from when he worked at W.O. Larsen, but I love them!
