I'm sitting here enjoying a bowl of the mentioned tobacco. It probably is my favorite VaPer and Virginia, I like st Bruno but that is a VaKy and flavored.

I have tried marlin flake which bites me, good flavor though, and Old Gowrie is a bit too weak for my tastes.

Do you have anything to recommend to a European smoker? I can get stuff like Dan tobacco and HU.

Thanks for any help guys.

Ropers Roundels, Davidoff Flake Medallions, Heinrich's Curly Block are the closest I've tried in coins. St. Bernard Flake & Salty Dogs plug are worth trying as well.
+1 on the Davidoff Flake Medallions!!! Seems quite close.

I dunno, it's easy to get excited by va/per coins and think "this must be like Navy Rolls", but really, none of 'em carry the weird leathery note that Navy Rolls does. Something like Telegraph Hill strikes me as being closer in flavor than say, the Davidoff (which is much sweeter and much spicier than Navy Rolls to my palate).

Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake after it's been aged for 4 or more years. It's relatively inexpensive, readily available in bulk, and well worth cellaring. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it fresh.
I can't get it in Europe unfortunately...

If you visit your neighbour country, try this:
Big Coin, MOB by STG, who also produces the 'Peterson' version.

By the way: the porcelain above is Swedish?
Never heard of this tobacco, thanks!

On point, I found the cavendish-cored bullseyes (like flake medallions, roppels roundels and the like) to be inferior to DLNRs for my tastes, the closest to DLNRs is StBernard Flake, but it still is not it. I'd say if you're happy with DLNRs and can readily get them then stick to them, they are a bit higher priced than others but you get quality for sure!

Ropers Roundels is great! I didn't like it this much in the beginning but it has become a favorite. The trick for me is really rubbing out the cavendish core, so you just get a bit here and there. Lovely smoke.

There's also McConell Highgate, which I'll be trying soon.

Something I noticed last week at a local tobacconist. The Navy Rolls were priced almost twice that of other tins of Peterson (neé Dunhill).

I’m pretty sure Escudo is virtually the same , exact same composition, blender cut etc i might be wrong I’m not the best to taste difference between Va & Va/Per
i get a lot more tang and sweetness from DNR that i dont get from escudo. i like them both for different reasons.
