Is anybody else frustrated by the tobaccoreviews.com‘s slow and painful rollout of their revamped website? I thought the previous iteration was a flawless website, I loved it. No fuss, no muss, just reviews. Wanna know what people think about a tobacco? No sweat, just a quick search. It’s been months and the problems are overwhelming. I can’t see others profiles or review lists, lost the list of my favourite reviewers. I check on a reviewer’s profile, I am just getting a page not found message. Been a couple months of this, regardless of browsers cookies etc. Can’t even see Mr. Jim’s page. Im just tired of it, wish it would go back to what it was. Maybe, I just hate change, but I thought it was an invaluable and quintessential website before the updates. Now, it’s like online banking. Thoughts?

Pretty sure it gets roasted in a lengthy thread here somewhere.

If I want to read a review for whatever reason I don't have any trouble finding the particular blend, that's really all I use it for the seldom times I use it - the rest of it I never used anyway. So a quick search is still "no sweat", but again, that's all I use it for. Haven't looked at it for weeks.

If I was as "het up" as you seem to be, I'd accept the reality and quit going to the site. Easy enough. As the above noted, the site has been roasted before. Owning and operating a site can be expensive and is time consuming if done right. Perhaps you could contact the owner, offer to assist in the costs or volunteer time if such would help.

It was a good resource. I enjoyed reading others thoughts about blends they were smoking. Too bad it has become such a mess.

I don't see what all of the fuss is about, yes the website has been updated a good thing in my opinion. I don't care about individual reviews, they are useless to me as no one experiences a particular tobacco the way I do.

When I consult the site for a particular blend I'm interested in its average review score and more importantly the number of reviews. One 4-star review is next to useless. Occasionally I'll look at all tobaccos in a genre, say Burely, to ID new blends to try, again I'm looking for an average score >3 and more than a few reviews.

Personally, I don't care. I don't go to the site that much anymore, didn't for its previously gussied up and screwed up iteration before the current one. The "original site was well designed for functionality and future editions have more or less lobotomized it. It's like saying that the reviews are less important than advertising and features, so a change in intent.

I's' not difficult to locate a blend or a brand, just less straightforward and less functional than when it was a simpler site. The site design follows the "it you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit" philosophy of site construction.

The majority of the review content is and has always been barely sentient and always has been. It's a site for people who like to post reviews, more than much of anything else. I can pretty much make up my own mind about whether or not I like a blend.

I used to occasionally read reviews from a handful of reviewers, whose descriptions somewhat accurately described what I experienced, though rarely as part of a decision whether or not to sample a blend. More often I used the site to look up info on the blends, some of which is accurate.

It's also useful for people who appreciate the reassurance of others opinions.
