I have been in contact with the Scandinavian Tobacco Group's Marketing Department regarding tobacco tins. As the law stands today, it is not possible to wrap the tin with an outer wrapper and have an undisturbed tin inside. All the warning lables and pictures of bleeding orgons, surgeries, etc. lables and stickers must be placed directly on the tobacco container and not easily taken off.

I do not see how, but those laws and regulations are in the process of getting even more stringent here in the European Union. Probably following the lead of Australia. America will eventually come under stricter tobacco container rules and regs as the trend continues.
1)I have been discussing the possibility of the tobacco company/brand offering brand, logo, and make stickers themselves. The customer takes the stickers and does whatever he or she feels with them..
2)I have been discussing the possibility of the chance to purchase your favorite blend/make of tobacco tin in a vintage style/art, but empty. I'm talking for a couple dolars and specially shaped etc. The customer could then fill or do whatever they want with the tin. Maybe a resealable design. How about even a design including your pipe club or online community that you enjoy?
Questions:
Would any of these alternatives attract you as a pipe smoker? Would you consider it positive? Or, is it a waste of time and amounts to nothing consequential to you?
Would really appreciate your inputs and thanks for taking your time to read,

Briar Bully

I'd definitely be open to the 2nd idea. Think this is the most likely one to get the go ahead by the tobacco companies as tin collectors will probably buy one too. I can imagine this would still be a pretty low amount of sales for them though

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not pitching this as a sales/profit. Given the very limited advertising that is possible for tobacco companies, I see it as more of an advertising/marketing adventure that could pay for itself or come close to.

Sure as I hate the darn warnings and pictures forced on us by governments. They still don't understand we are adults and don't need them to nanny us. I see a day when the MacDonalds wrappers around our burgers will have similiar warnings. I't getting rediculous while the world is going crazy with the economy and wars and such that so much effort is put into this crap.

Up here, we already have to deal with large pictures of organs, dying people full of tubes, sinister looking whisps of smoke, and sad kids on our tobacco products. Oddly enough, tinned pipe-tobacco lucks out here - somehow, they allowed the warning to be placed on the back of the tin, allowing the full size original label to be displayed on the front. Of course, CBSA then goes and ruins it by placing a massive duty-stamp across the tin art anyway.
That said, my vote goes for #1, since I end up jarring pretty much everything I order anyway, and it would kind of rock to have the original label on said jar(s).

C&D has been offering their labels separately for some time for $1 each.

I have been collecting "vintage" painted tins and keep my tobacco in them. Thanks kcvet67 for the tin artwork list, I think I'll get me some!

I store my tobacco in mason jars. I would like to download the graphics, so I can print them and put them over the lid, but under the ring of the jars. It would be even sweeter if the graphics were already set up to just print a 8x11 page with the circles already sized correctly. Anyone with graphics software could easily make this happen.

I have bought a couple of tins of Sam Gawaiths FVF where the labels came off easily, but on most tins it's a an annoying and immovable nannyism. I've been thinking of storing my tobacco in jars, but a nice vintage tin to carry around a good ration of smoke when I'm out and about is a great idea.

One or two would be good in my opinion... anything to defeat the smoke gestapo...

I like idea number 2. Especially if it was vintage looking or an alternate design not intended for mass production. I like to collect random beer/wine/liquor/tobacco paraphernalia so this would certainly be something of interest.
