Hello!
I'd like to ask if anyone has some up-to-date experience with the available pipe tobacco supply in Andorra?

I'm gonna travel there in the second half of June, and I've tried to contact with some of the major retailers (les1000pipes, The Cigar Shop) who has a general list on their page, but they have said that it's not too up-to-date and they have less and less blends, because they can't sell too much of pipe tobaccos, so they rather focus on cigars.

I'd like to figure out the approximate available supply of pipe tobaccos to figure out which blends should I check in Barcelona on my way there (unfortunately my return flight will depart in the early morning, so I could only check this out on my way there).

So if anyone has some up-to-date experience, maybe some other recommendations than the two shops mentioned, it would be nice to get a comprehensive overview.

You can get most pipe tobacco in USA cheaper and easier than in Spain (Euskerra included). Some exemptions are St. Bruno and Capstan. Another two wich you would not find in USA is Pesse Canoe of wich i only recommend the latakia flake 40 and Caporal. You can check on the estancos. They have the same price on all estancos. Due to the monopoly , they only sell on estancos. There are plenty of them in Barcelona. Enjoy your trip.

Yeah, but I don't live in the USA. Hungary has a really weak pipe tobacco supply, additionally Andorra has 4.5% VAT, so tobacco is really cheap there, but I'm not sure what blends are on stock nowadays, and I would like to get some from Spain that are not available there.

But the point would be to know the approximate stock in Andorra, to know which blends I should not buy in Spain.

only very few pipe tobacco blends are available in Andorra (around 15 I’d say). Not worth a trip at all, Spain has a much wider choice. Andorra is the place to go for cigars, alcohol and cigarettes, but not for pipe tobacco blends.

I'm not planning to travel to Andorra for tobacco, I'm planning to buy tobacco while travelling to Andorra. 😅

Theoretically there are plenty of blends available (Chacom, Cornell & Diehl, Davidoff, Peterson (including former Dunhill), Bentley, WO Larsen, 7seas, Samuel Gawith, Capstan). But I'd like to get some clue about the practical stock, if someone has some fresh experience.

Never see, a C&D blend in Andorra. I had friends there yesterday for cigars, they just told me « no more blends than usual », which means only few. The price difference with Spain is not much, so if you find a blend you’re after in Spain get it there.

Have you visit pipatorium at Budapest Hungary?
I am going to Budapest in the end of June and I was thinking if it`s worth to visit?

I don't really know that place. I'd recommend Gallwitz Pipa if you are looking for pipes, it's a 100+ years old family business in Régi Posta street. Or you can contact with some of the Hungarian pipe makers. If you will be around on 14th of June, we will have the 2nd Pipe expo of Budapest, the major Hungarian pipe makers will be present with pipes made for the expo.

For tobacco, the best selection may be in the tobacco shop on Egyetem square (actually that's also Gallwitz's store), but that only means the selection of the few available blends in Hungary (but you should ask the cashier, some blends are visible, others are in drawers).

The most known Hungarian pipe maker is Szabó pipe factory, they have cheap but great quality, handmade pipes.

But if you are looking for something special, there are a few pipe makers who makes pipes as a hobby, they have really good quality, unique handmade pipes. You can even contact most of them if you want to design a full unique pipe together.
Some of them can only be found through their private facebook, some has websites. A few examples: Airedale Handmade, Calligrapher (Viktor Becz), Molnar pipes (Molnár Antal), Ptr Tth (Péter Tóth), Dädä pipes, Balifapipa.

If you join to the Hungarian pipe smookers' facebook group (Magyar Pipások), you can find many posts from their pipes there.

I can't really recommend any tobaccos here. I don't think you will find any that can't be found in other countries. I personally smoke Stanwell Melange, some says that Orlik Golden is also good (it's new in Hungary). Óbester is a Hungarian tobacco company, I've never tried, probably not the best, but may worth a try.

Dädä pipes has some really nice pipes. It would be nice to have one of their full bent (hungarian) pipes.

Do they sell their pipes through pipe shops (Airedale, dädä etc) at Budapest or do I have to contact the carvers personally?

Most of them should be contacted personally, some of them has websites, but I don't know how much do they keep them up-to-date.
