My local B&M doesn't carry much in the way of tinned tobacco so lately when I run across some place that does I've been acquiring a few tins. It might be several weeks or a couple of months before I break into them so I was wondering the best way to store them before I start puffing.
Should I open the tins and put the tobacco in 1/2 pint mason jars or should I just put the tins in larger sealable containers and place the container in a dark, cool place until my current open stash gets smoked?
Thanks.

If they aren't open just put them in the closet they will be fine. Once they are open if you thing it will be more that a couple weeks before you finish it off mason jars work great. I use the screw on top Ball jars.
THIS is a good article that may help you.

I agree with grizzly86. Just put them in a place that is free of sunlight and extreme temperatures.
