This is really something.
Tobacco Prevention Funding Declines by 36%
As I said here, "What's colossally obnoxious and idiotic about this is that there have been laws in place for decades banning the sale of tobacco products to minors. The antis are so dependent upon crying about how they are "saving the children" to try to give themselves some semblance of legitimacy, that they become blind to the fact that minors already can't buy the stuff."
Organizations like the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids shouldn't even exist. I'm wondering if in this day and age with all the militant brainwashing if you could even find a minor smoking a cigarette anyway.
And speaking of cigarettes - here's another HUGE problem that's been going on for ages.
In the antis minds - Tobacco = Cigarettes.
I seriously, truly believe, and I even bet that it could be proven (if we were allowed to do so) that people like Matthew Myers, President of Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has major psychological problems that drive his misplaced, ignorant activism.
The annual report, titled "A Broken Promise to Our Children: The 1998 State Tobacco Settlement 13 Years Later," ...
Again, utterly ridiculous just with the title. Save the children! Save the children!
How about we enforce the current law against "children" being able to buy or use tobacco products?
Oh, I get it.
It's not really about saving the children.
Here's what it's really about - 2 things -
1. Money

2. Fascism

Kevin - from time immemorial there has always been a "Witch Hunt." We saw it in the middle ages and then again in the 1950s with McCarthyism - find the Commie kind of crap. Tobacco is now the "Witch" of today's society. All the information is hyperbole and "clinical evidence" based on whoever is funding the "Trial." "Save the Children" is a knee jerk emotional spin to fuel the anti's position. It's all smoke and mirrors any way - direct the masses's attention from "The Real" Issues and you can control their thinking & behavior.
I remember the Woody Allen movie "Sleeper" when he wakes up much later in the future ala Rip Van Winkle and tells them about "Health Food." To which the mystefied scientists queried "Didn't they Know about Deep-Fat and Chocolate?"
I am hoping in my lifetime some of the bullshit comes to light and hopefully witness a bunch of self-rightous idiots with egg on their face.

Furthermore, let us not forget that when people started enjoying tobacco - there were many who claimed that "Smoking" actually had health benefits. And I am sure back in the day - there were studies, trials and claims to that effect.
We seem to live in a society that tends to demonize any form of pleasure. Now granted, any pleasurable done to excess will cause problems - that includes Eating, Drinking, Sex and Smoking. Enjoy something that gives you pleasure and some idiot will tell you how bad it is for you.
Heck, I grew up in the 60's and 70's where it was not uncommon to see Hard Liquor commercials or some guy who "would walk a mile for a Cammel cigarette." Now no one blinks an eye when the latest "miracle drug" pandered on TV lists side effects of "sucicidal thoughts, liver failure, anal leakage, obesity, vision impairment, shortness of breath, etc., etc." So rather than enjoy substances and acts that are natural - we are now encouraged (by Drug Companies) to imbibe substances (not natural) that have far greater health risks than those substances that are natural and far safer to partake than the garbage they want us to purchase at great costs. Why? Because Drug X will improve your physical or mental Health. So much for a "Better Quality of Life."

I read a study not so long ago that said it was easier for children/teenagers to get a hold of illegal drugs than cigarettes. Cigarettes, by becoming the boogie monster, have left the door wide open for more serious and potentially lethal drugs including fraudulently obtained pharmaceuticals. The "education programs" lump tobacco in with the big killers so when kids see their parents smoking with little to no affect, what are they supposed to conclude about the harder drugs?

In the old days - if you were labeled a Heretic or Witch you were burned at the stake.

If you were labeled a Communist - they black listed you.
In regards to tobbaco - any money grubbing, soul shriven, pleasure hating vampire or group for that matter will find away to make one feel guilty, warn you of danger, or perversion and do their best to get their hands on our hard earned money.
While They can't burn us at the stake or black list us - They sure can tax us to no end - to suppress what they regard as a anathema to Society. In our "best interest" They make recommendations that further rob us of freedom/pleasure we may have gotten from our "habit" or sell us an expensive controlled replacement or even worse...offer a book or class that tells us how we were doing it all wrong in the first place!

Just remember Guys and Gals - never watch the Magician's mouth during the show - watch his hands - as they are usually doing the exact opposite of what he is saying.
Now I will shut up. :puffy:

How bout we educate the parents, not the children, if my mom caught me smoking cigs, i would have had th shit beat out of me, and i come after the no spanking rule...needless to say i have never smoked cigs.
people really need to understand the difference between cig smoking and the rest of the tobacco world,
its like alcohol, most of us know not to drink half a keg of beer or a bottle oof whiskey, its bad for you, but nobody says anything bad about having a good beer after work... thats not a bad thing...its just about the same concept except for these zealots
and i say again, ZEALOTS

I don't know to what extent the politicians are creating public opinion or just following it, but either way those in power seem to go with the flow.
