I will be taking a motorcycle trip to Tellico Plains TN late next month and am looking to see if there is any amazing pipe tobacco in the area. I was reading that Tennessee makes about 20% of the Burley that’s on the market. That being said I am hoping that there is some great fresh blends from a shop or better yet a farm or something of the like.
If anyone knows please let me know. I would love to find some good stuff.

Gonna ride The Dragon, are ye?
I don't know of any tobacco shops at all down that way, other than the discount stores. Granted, it has been ten years since I worked in Monroe County, so my information is way out of date. Plus, I wasn't a pipesmoker back then.
But if you are interested in firearms, it'll be worth your time to stop at Robbie Farnsworth's shop in Vonore.

I don't know which way you're coming from, but if you pass through Cleveland TN , stop in at Williams on Ocoee St. The owners name is Melvin , he'll be the only one there and he's a great guy. It's about the best around here. There is also Burns Tobacconist on Inman St. but they are really high, cool little place though. They have a cigar bar as well. Oh and Cherohalla Skyway and the Dragon are my favorite rides!

I am coming from the great nation of Texas my good man! Texas and Tenn have always close partners in crime. It only seemed natural to come and see your state.

Pipe tobacco is not like vegetables. You don't want it fresh. It needs to be aged and processed properly before you smoke it.

Txican: The best place to stop off is Smokys in Knoxville. Since you are headed for the Dragon you will come through here anyway.
Dave, owner, is great guy. He has cigars and the usual Lane tobaccos as well as a very decent assortment of tins.

The Smokys B&M is just off Kingston Pike.
Actually, here is the address and phone number: Smoky's Tobacco & Cigars, 7826 Montvue Center Way (Corner of Montvue Road and Kingston Pike), Knoxville, TN 37919; (865) 693-8371;

Uh, and Tex, you might want to also try one of our very best aged beverages, what we like to call Tennessee sippin' whiskey, Old No. 7 by Mr. Jack himself.

The booze is part of the trip! I am a neat whiskey/scotch drinker so I am planning on leaving a saddle bag empty for the trip up.
@Jud: I know that a nice aged tobacco is where it’s at. I was just hoping that I could get some from the start. Age it myself and have a great story behind whatever blend I put it into. I guess I meant fresh more as that it before it made it through 11 trucks in 12 countries and then back to the B&M 8 miles form my house.
