Tobacco Consumption Trends

from 2008 to 2018. Intresting to note the only increases are women with cigars, and young people with pipes.

Cigars

From 2002 to 2018, current use of cigars:

• Remained stable among women ages 18-25 at 5.2 percent.
• Increased 68 percent among women aged 26 or older, from 1.0 percent to 1.7 percent.

Pipe Tobacco

From 2002 to 2018, current use of pipe tobacco:

• Increased 69 percent among those ages 18-25, from 1.1 percent to 1.9 percent.

Yes, that is the thing to track. Young people have notoriously small attention spans.

And, one must note that it is in the interests of the lung.org to use only the numbers which shore up their political/social positions so as to protect their funding/fund raising. I'm not insinuating the numbers are suspect only providential for the organization.

That was me! At 21 I bought one pipe, which I still have and use. I smoked captain black from the white pouch and Early Morning Pipe I got from a jar at my local Tinderbox. I pulled a couple other tobaccos from jars, but I had no clue what I was doing. For me it was some kind of nautical romanticism. Then I picked up the dreaded grits and soon forgot about my Brebbia pipe.
Now I haven’t touched a cigarette in over 20 years and enjoy a few pipes a week.
