Interesting. I have wondered with time if beneficial properties of tobacco would be discovered and developed. I didn’t imagine vaccine development though.

I think because COVID-19 effects the respiratory system. It makes sense and is probably a best practice, but I would guess those that inhale are more at risk than those that don’t.
I don’t see the link between smoking tobacco and using tobacco to grow ingredients for a vaccine.

I could have been clearer. No link was implied in the original article; but Olkofri posted an article with a comment about smoking. I was saying I didn’t see a link between the two.
No clear link, yes. Though my mind can no longer set aside the fact that the WHO wants all tobacco gone from the face of the Earth, whether it's smoked or not. We've had posts reporting they're trying to ban tobacco growing.

I don't know, there is so much rumor circulating regarding COVID 19 on the internet, that it makes my head ache. Honestly ... even if tobacco would be a cure for it, my compatriots are still fighting over a few kilos of flower, a few drops of yeast and some cooking oil. Oh, and toilette paper, let's not forget that. God ... hysteria and panic only brings out the worst in people ..
In Rural Canada the only change I've seen at the grocery store is two weeks ago they were low on eggs and milk, which is now almost back to normal, and this week all the canned vegetables and cheap pet food are gone.

Agreed. Everyone here is already stocked for snowstorms, supply interruptions, whatever. People stocked up a bit but there are few who had nothing.
Maybe I should go shopping to Penzance or Aneroid. ? It was nuts at the store earlier. Like, I didn't need a 10-Kg sack of sugar, but the smaller sacks were sold out. No numi paper at all. Even the liquour store was running low on ale: now THAT is a real emergency!!
And sniffing glue, drinking coffee, methamphetamines, etc...............

oh tobacco is great at killing certain things including cigarette smokers. Of course the WHO hates tobacco, cigarette smokers and people who use certain types of chew die (betel nut is super bad for your mouth) at what is a really preventable younger age. From a health stand point when 90 percent of people that use tobacco use the worst form, it seems like a pointless waste.
