For some time I thought it rather odd for someone to have tin’s (or bulk) tobacco sitting on their shelves (cellar) that they’ve never tried yet. I’m not referring to a tin or two that you just haven’t gotten to yet, but numerous ones. However, I now find myself to be in that situation, albeit in a relatively small amount.
I’m not one to hoard and cellar copious amounts of tobacco as I personally don’t see the need for it, (nor can I afford to do so if I was so inclined) but be that as it may. However, I’m still exploring different blends and each time I received a new tin of tobacco I couldn’t wait to open it and give it a try. Suddenly, I now find myself with tins of tobacco that I’ve yet to try. Obviously, I’m not talking about multiple tins of the same tobacco as there is no way I would purchase more than one tin of a tobacco that I haven’t tried as that absolutely makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Strange, but each time I’m tempted to open one of these new tobaccos I find myself smoking the opened tins of tobacco that I have stored in Mason jars. I think that, it some way, I hold off on them as I then have something to look forward to considering that I have more than enough opened and tried tobacco to keep me going. Also, at my age, I need something to look forward to! lol Anyway, are there any of you who have multiple amounts of tobacco that you haven’t tried yet, and if so, what? Here is what I have so far that I’ve not yet tried, and I definitely have to stop.

*Probably does not really count as I have an opened tin of 2007 so the 2008 & 2013 can definitely wait.

I've actually been reorganizing my cellar and pulling out one tin of each blend I am yet to try. At current count I have 72 untried blends. I also did a rough count of the blends I have tried to date and I am sitting at around 53.
I have really slowed down on cellaring lately, but this recent run of new blends from MacBaren, Cornell & Diehl and Samuel Gawith has caused me to make a couple of new purchases. So what can I say, I have a wonderful journey ahead of me to smoke every carefully selected tobacco I have spent the past 2 years collecting!

I think that's it for ones I haven't tried. I have alot of stuff I've just smoked a bowl of before sealing it in the mason jar when I got it to see if I like it so to order in half or full pounds.
@Phil the CC 2008 is a great vintage, I'd save it for awhile, it was my first CC and it's some amazing stuff, I tried it in 2012 and it hooked me on the series. 2011 and 2012 were nowhere near as memorable next to it but the 5 years pre age on top of the 4 years probably mellowed it because it was nowhere near as sharp as the newer ones to me.

I meant Christmas Cheer in my post. Can you tell I haven't smoked previous years of it?

In 10 minutes or so, I can cross Oak Alley off my list.

Letting things age is going to be a challenge for me!

I was going to make the claim that this doesn't happen much to me, since I've only just started cellaring, and I'm trying to finish off a number of smaller samples so that I can justify my next TAD attack - and then it occurred to me that I've got probably two or three flake samples that I didn't have jar space for back when I received them, so they're still in baggies, inside a sealed glass container...
Guess I should check and see what I've got waiting for me.

I'm not near it now to say bout if I had to guess about 90% I haven't tried yet. I'm bad like that I smoke what I know and it's hard to try smoking something new with the fear of not liking it.

Considering the tobacco I have on hand there is no rush on my part. Then again, at my age I can’t let it age for too long. lol
The first CC I tried (a week or so ago) was the 2007 that I got off of eBay. It had the strong vinegar tin aroma associated with some McClellend blends (ketchup?). However, what a great taste! I’m not one to review tobaccos and the ability to discern/describe various taste nuances, but this tasted like a combination of a charcoal broiled hamburger topped with the sweet taste of a charcoal broiled Vidalia onion. The taste was so good I felt at times like chewing on the stem to get more! This would be a great winter smoke when you can’t avail yourself to grilling outside. But... I’ll definitely be smoking this again soon on those cool summer evenings with a cold beer by my side.

I looked at my cellar and found several I haven't tried. One of those tins was Dark Star from 2008. Another was Black Parrot from 2010. You would think four to six years would be plenty of time to get around to trying them. What a procrastinator.

I've got lots of blends I haven' tried, mostly because I can't see opening a tin when I still have so many blends available stored mason jars. Another reason is because I have recently purchased quite a few latakia blends, and with the warmer weather here, I don't mind holding off until things cool off a bit more, on those.
Right now I have the following unopened/untried tins.

I have a tin of Spoggle Bobble Sack from the late 1890s - priced at one and thru pence a tin. Apparently it was both Gladstone's and Lewis Carol's preferred blend,

I feel like I get to bulk tobacco sooner than tins, since the tins can age. Even when I jar the bulk blends, I have

opened them, smelled them, handled them, and I am much more ready to dive in and pack a bowl sooner

rather than later.

The one that most comes to mind is Villiger 1888 After Dinner.
I keep looking at it but have yet to sample ... looks like a tasty flake though!

Wanted to post a picture of my "Yet To Try Shelf" which contains all the blends I have not yet smoked. Pretty much every tin shown here has a twin or two on the "Aging Shelf" below, but no more. I had to double check, but I have only purchased large quantities of blend's I have tried and enjoyed.
