So a commission by @Chasing Embers ?
Goodness no, I don't like Yanik's skulls. I prefer mostly anatomically correct skulls versus horror movie and new meerschaum has exceeded my price limit. My Halloween commission looks like this.

He doesn't get his skull pipes carved from wood, he uses real skulls.

Monkey skulls, though, not hooman ones.

(that's what I've been told, anyway)
I've actually gotten some items from a college medical supply company but my pipes are meerschaum and briar.

Do you have to let their relatives visit them?
From what I can understand, they're all donations to science. When I bought my skull in college, an anatomy professor ordered it for me through the college catalog. Not sure how it works now though there are sites that offer them for much, much more than I paid 30 years ago. I'd like to find a scrimshaw artist at some point put an old world map on mine.

This is just one of the many reasons I wouldn't donate my remains (or anything else for that matter) to "science".

I don't want to end up on your mantel with a scrimshaw map on my skull.

I dunno. If it were my skull Embers mantle would be as good a resting place as any. Perhaps he could even light a pipe for me from time to time.

I would take being on Chasingember's mantle anyday over being on "former member" Deathemetal's mantle. I would probably get voodoo'd or something just as terrible.

I suggest you both get it in writing to be donated directly to Embers then, rather than going the "science" route...or you may very well end up on Deathmetal's...or even (God forbid) BROBS' mantel.

Whenever I see a skull pipe posted here I stop scrolling for a few minutes, this thread might yield me a prescription for coke bottle glasses because my eyeballs are pretty much glued to the screen.
I wonder, has anyone here experiences with real bone being used for tobacco pipes? I know of horn but never heard of bone.

I think it was a Talbert Jackolantern pipe I saw years ago that was just wicked cool. Wish I could find / buy one! It wasn’t gruesome just a straight scary looking pumpkin affair. I’ve seen his website but I don’t think he’s currently making them or anything like them. Sadly.

Bone burns and it smells terrible.
