I'm usually too cynical about the impending doom of the pipe tobacco industry... but now everyone has me a bit scared.
I have some questions...
Will Vincent Manil's / Semois blends and other European imports like Erinmore mixture etc be hard to come by or just more expensive?
Will USA blends by old tobacco houses like Peretti's and Uhles be obsolete or will they be allowed to continue making these 50+ year old blends?
All of those cool blends like russ oulette does and the stuff from McClellends like frog morton will be gone?
...and what exactly will be easy to find?

Yes to both

They will be able to, question is, will they?

Yes unless they want to comply with the FDA regulations to continue.

I'm starting to buy up the S&G and G&H blends. Will they want to pay the price to sell in the US, or give up the market??...

So we all fill our basements to the rafters with more tins of tobacco than a B&M, then suddenly we all get arrested for conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance without a permit.
Could happen!

Will the ATF come breaking down your door in 10 years if they know you have purchased more than 200 lbs in the last 10 years?

I would open the door for the ATF and their tobacco sniffing dogs. They won't find anything but Tabasco pepper and deer urine.

More likely that the FDA Special Response Team will come calling, possibly with the aid of the ATF. I think that most Federal Agencies have armed SWAT-like teams (which they are semantically loathe to call SWAT).
@pappymac: fox urine will also distract the dogs.

Everything will be more expensive.
It's a good time to start a garden, and pick up a few assault rifles to keep the varmints at bay.

I think so, from general experience, because then you are totally self-reliant.
And, mixing is fun.

Well, I moved some things around... sold a pipe or two that wasn't getting any love and added $350 worth of tins to my collection... 75% staples and 25% new stuff I always wanted to try.

Panic is what the FDA and govt. wants . Take your time and collect your baccy. No tobacco is going to be banned for the next 2 years. So go ahead and stock your cellar. Me? I have zero tobacco purchases till now and I am yet to panic. The only thing I want are a few tins of Christmas Cheer, thats all.
Cheers,

Chris

This is more realistic than you think. In my home Province of Alberta, they have laws in place against such stock piles. Basically, anyone with more than "blank" grams of loose tobacco requires a tobacco retailer's licence. This laws is so police can arrest people selling cigarettes out of a trunk, for example, they aren't hunting for individual pipe and cigar cellars. Nonetheless, the law exists, and could very easily be used against a horde of pipe tobacco.

[iSounds good so far. Are you going to spill the list of what you got? :)[/i]
Round One... P+C, smoking pipes and the pipe guys...
Multiple tins of:

*Ratrays Red Rapparee and Black Mallory.

*Dan Tobacco's: Devil's Holiday, Da Vinci, Balkan Blend, Black Velvet and Salty Dog.

*S.G.: Sam's Flake, St. James Flake, Cabbie's Mixture, Firedance.

*Petersen's Hyde Park

*F+K: Merde De Chaval

4 Bricks of Semois

A few Tins of R.O.'s Acadian Gold
Amazing how all that adds up...
My next round will be more Semois, Erinmore Mixture/Flake, Ennerdale, Royal Yacht, black house, magnum opus, and a whole lot of perique...
Yeah, I was existing fine with no panic and I imagine that even after these laws hit I will be able to find stuff I like to smoke... I think I read too many articles these past few weeks... because panic did set in a little... I wanted to at least start a stash...

I'm in the hope to always find something smokeable camp as opposed to cellaring deeply simply because I'm doing well enough to keep a roof over my head to concern myself with filling up the basement with tobacco. :P I smoke abut 1 pound per month. So, to come up with a 15+ year supply for instance would cost me more than I paid for my last car. 8O
