No same Italy Briar that was in awful shape and a ugly brownish mess of a stain job

This was a ColorDuke in awful shape and a broken stem. At first I though the grain under all paint was rather dull and uninteresting so I dyed it black in preparation of a rustication job. When I began to shape a stem for it, the stem started out as a straight btw, as I removed some of the black dye around the shank I was pleasantly surprised by the grain I found and left it alone from there.

So cool the way that Color duke turned out. The serendipity of the black stain in preparation for one finish leading to a stunning grain contrast and entirely different finish in the end.
Great fun!
