Howdy all,

I saw these release today both on the Briarworks site as well as Smokingpipes. Looks like 3 shapes (C12, C61, & C91) from their regular line but now with extended stems and an "XL" destinguishment in the description.

For me, the peak of pipes from Briarworks are the Moonshine line, specifically anything in that 4"-5" length. However, there's something about that C61XL that's having me second guess my typical preference for short and clenchable.

The only churchwardens I've ever owned are some Cobbits from Missouri Meerschaum. I only kept the Dwarf and it's main function has been 20-30min aromatics by the fire. Unsure how I feel about a ~$200 spend on a pipe that might only see tobacco a handful of times annually.

Anyway, what do my PM forum peers think of them?

I have two pipes from Briar Works and they are great. I think they do a great sandblast but I am not overly crazy about their rustication.

If you are in the market for a solid churchwarden, I think grabbing one of these would be a great choice.

Mine is the Apple in that promo shot.

I've been starting with it every night for the last few. So far it's been really nice to smoke.
Tonight is the ultimate test: Sam Gawith Flake cut.. in this case Bothy Flake. I sprinkled some shag in as kindling as is my wont but I will be looking more at flavors now that it's proven it's a solid smoker.

Love it. Briarworks is weird for me. I don't like most of their stuff, just not my taste.... but the c12 type line is amazing and I want one.

They look nice! I purchased a Savinelli 921 brown rusticated churchwarden, 10 inches, absolutely perfect. Currently SP.com only has the black in stock, but they make a brown bowl too, 106$. I do only smoke it a couple times a year unfortunately, but like having it around.

my first Churchwarden was a Savinelli Straight Apple, 313 Brown Blast. It gets regular rotation and is a great smoker and feels good in the chair.

The Briarworks is the bent Apple, C91XL. Very similar feel but bulkier and a longer smoke. Both are great around the fire!
