Hello, 1st post but avid reader over the last few weeks as I am finally doing a true foray into pipe smoking. Never knew the in's & out's in the past starting with cheap pipes and cheap tobacco- not giving the tongue bite a chance.

Anyways, as far as smokables all I have is a Rossi, a couple corn Meerschaums (aromatics), and a Savinelli to be here on Monday.

I want to get my collection going and I am willing to restore old pipes. I saw these at $10 on bid so far. Are these junk or worth the chance in your opinions?

If this starts going up on the $ a lot- where should I perhaps stop? I can send more pics. The Wellington looks a bit more aged.

EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title - Bob

Welcome to the forum.
Are these junk
No, I don't think they're junk. I have three Stanwells. Two are part of my regular rotation and one is still new in the box.
worth the chance in your opinions?
Sure, why not? Especially if you get them at reasonable price.

That's up to you. Only you knows your budget and how bad you want them.

Spending a lot of money on a pipe does not guarantee you will get a good smoker. It significantly ups the odds of getting a good one but it's not a guarantee.

One of my favorite pipes is an old used SPC Canadian I got for about 40 bucks. It smokes as good or better than some of the pipes on which I spent north of $500.

I bet those will do nicely. I like that Savinelli. It looks like that wellington has a P-lip stem. Personally. I like them a lot but there are others on here who don't care for them at all.

Thanks!- well the Savinelli I mentioned is the new one on the way- 320 KS rusticated. Hoping that was a good choice. I am not positive on the Rossi I have. Bought that (overpaid I'm sure) at a tobacconist as I really was dying for a decent pipe.
So I guess I can recondition them and I guess I will go for it.
I spend more on in copays in a week at my spine docs.

Thx!
