That was really nice, thanks for sharing. Nice touch to include the little clips of people around the world that love and desperately wait for pieces of his briar. I never knew that only the brighter outside layer of the briar could be used and the inside is pretty much waste.

What really interested me was how he cured the briar by boiling, then further allowing it to slowly dry.

That has to be necessary to remove the tannins or whatever is inside raw briar burls that would make the smoke taste bad.

And he learned that process, somehow.

The beauty of the grain is something any careful carver might master.

The smoking qualities come from proper curing.
