About two years ago, I bought a Savinelli Oscar prince shape pipe with a kind of bronze

yellow stem. It was about the most I'd spent on a pipe to that point, and it is a prize to

me. I'm intrigued by the shape because it is not a particularly large or deep bowl, but

is fairly wide for its size. I've enjoyed many a good smoke in it. Because the bowl is

broad for its depth, it can be a fairly short smoke, like 30 minutes, fine for a small pipe.

But I have the sense -- I love this pipe, I guess you can tell -- that this is perfect for

larger cut tobacco, hand rubbed, or whatever. Are there any out there who have found

a perfect match of tobacco to their prince shaped pipes? My tastes are wide ranging,

so I'm open to suggestions, and will pass along any I discover in the meantime.

Hi
savinelli-tundra-600x448.jpg

Here is my Savinelli Tundra Prince, which I just happened to smoke on my way to work today. I prefer to smoke dry aromatics out of it, I know some will rib me and say there is no such thing. I have a small stockpile of UHLE's Marquette Blend and BJ's Cavendish blend, both dry aromatics, that smoke exceptionally well out of this pipe, where in other pipes, they smoke too hot. I have tried smoking some lane aromatics out of this pipe, 1Q especially, and they did not smoke nearly as well as the UHLE's. If you haven't heard of UHLE's, look them up, they have very quality tobacco's.

I have a Savinelli prince (rusticated Oscar Tiger), and it's probably my best smoker. Though it flies in the face of conventional wisdom given the diameter of the bowl, it smokes especially well with cube cut flakes.

I've been looking at both Prince and Pot shapes for this very reason. All of my existing pipes are .75 or less in diameter and relatively shallow. So I'm looking for a pipe with a very wide bowl and relatively shallow depth just for smoking aro's and one a bit deeper for English/Balkans.
