Her's a peek at what I call my practical meerschaum. It is by K&P Peterson and is Meerschaum, believe it or not. I love the finish and the fact that I don't have to worry about handling it and messing up the finish or coloring. Can have multiple bowls out of it per day and love that. It is my regular travel pipe. Anyone else have any "practical" meerschaums? Would love to see them. Pic follows.

I think you've just described all African Meers. I only have one African Meer, a GBD. Personally, I have been more impressed with every Turkish meer that I have in comparison. My "travel" Meer is practical simply because it was cheap and light. I think $20 new on the bay..... but I still don't lunt with a meer....
