So a couple of weeks ago I posted about a Trypis pipe I got with a real hot spot and the start of what looked like a burn out.

So I did a pipe mud patch repair job and left it to cure for a week. Yesterday I try a bowl and voila, no more hot spot!! Yay!!

After I finish the bowl I drop the pipe into my coat pocket and got out of the truck to head back into work. Yip.... Pow.... Ass over tea kettle.... patch of ice and I am flat on my back. After spending a few moments asking the dear Lord "why me?" I picked myself up off the ground and dragged my sorry ass inside. I reach in my pocket and pull out my cellphone and pipe and put them on the desk and took off my jacket. When I sat down the pipe caught my eye and I realized that in the fall I had managed to snap off the first inch of the stem at the bit!! Argh!!!!

So last night I reshaped what was left of the stem, cut a new bit, and did a rough sanding. It will go off to the local B+M for a final sand and polish as I'm not set up for that yet. The Pipe Gods may be after me and this pipe but we are not throwing in the towel yet!!!!

blueeye, glad you didn't do any permanent damage (at least none you're telling us about) to yourself.

The injured pipe looks mighty fine. One of those chubby nosewarmers for outdoors. Can't beat it.

smokeybear, you're a good guy to replace the pipe.
blueeye, you might look for some of those metal treads that fit over your shoes to grip the stray ice

patch. The orthopedic surgeons do a land office business from spills on ice. Everyone, take heed.

I've never seen a pipe get so hot that a cyan ring suddenly appeared, that is some hot spot!

I'm glad only your pride was hurt in the tumble, Blue. Pipe stems and egos can always be healed. Killer nose warmer, BTW.
Andrew, your offer to send a replacement burner is as gracious as it gets. Class move, pal.

Andrew was top notch right from my first contact with him to buy the pipes in the first place. Great example of the super guys that hang on this forum, but what else would you expect from the somewhat rare, and elusive Canadian Pipe Smoker? lol

I think I'm the only one who liked it better before.
