My wife was paying for our lunch at the local Skyline Chili today and was perusing a basket of books. Seems the local library donates books for patrons for a free reading program. So, today she found:
The Perfect Pipe by H. Paul Jeffers in hardbound with the library cover.
As Daffy Duck would say, "Mine! Mine! All Mine!"

Skyline Chili... has to be in Cincinnati. Is the Ohio Bookstore still there, with several floors where you ride the elevator up and turn on the hanging lightbulbs yourself? Great find with The Perfect Pipe. Give us a review!

Skyline has branched out a little further north. I am in the Dayton area. Unfortunately, I have not been to the Ohio Bookstore.

Outstanding, I'll give a shot next time I'm over there. I just relocated to Indianapolis and have visited one shop here. Nothing to write home about unfortunately.

Echoing other visitors - The Wharf is a nice shop with friendly people. Bring a pipe, load a complimentary bowl of either their currently open sample or something from their bulk offerings. Make sure you spend some time trying to get the African Greys to pay attention to you.
Deathandtaxes/Philobeddoe - you should PM me and/or danindayton when you visit, if I have time I'll see if I can come up and visit. I'm pretty sure Dan would also consider it (giving that he and I haven't met but plan to).

deathandtaxes, if you ever get down to Bloomington, you should visit the Briar & Burley on the corner of 5th and Walnut streets. They have a huge selection of pipes and tobacco (tinned and bulk) and a nice ventilated smoking lounge with overstuffed leather chairs and sofa's.

Sounds fantastic, I may be back in the area later this week as I am working a case in that area. I'll send a PM when I get more definite plans. I very much miss traditional pipe shops with friendly tobacconists on staff. There was a great one in Little Rock, AR. May have to move back just for them, lol!

Skyline. The Ohio Bookstore.
Fond memories of my college days, some 35 years ago.
Toss in some Graeters Ice Cream and I may swoon.

I was just in Cincinnati for Horrorhound this weekend and tried Skyline Chili for the first time.
As great as it was, for the sake of my arteries, I'm glad we don't have them where I live.
