My Digby Prince arrived this weekend. For once the ebay description was really close, except that it smelled so strong you could smell it thru the package.
Since it needed a new stem anyway, I gave it a cursory wipe down and repackage it with instructions to Mike at Briar. Next time I see it, it will be ozone cleaned with a new stem - kinda of like receiving 2 instead of 1. Now I just have to wait . . .

Will post before and after pictures asap. I was really surprised at what a nice pipe the Digby was.

I've got a Digby 9448 that smokes like the king's volcano,

meaning, very very good.
I was highly impressed.
It's a sandblast, the reason it became a Digby instead of a GBD is a rather large divot from the sandblast,

but I love the gnarliness so that's a plus.
Also, let it be known that William Faulkner was a Digby man!

The Digby convinced me of just how great an old British pipe can smoke,

and how "seconds" can in many ways actually be "first rates" !!!

Well, the Faulkner Digby went unsold,

I wonder what became of it?

"The present pipe was owned and smoked by author William Faulkner, tobacco residue is still present in the bowl."
...the "residue" could have been Balkan Sobranie, St. Bruno, a Dunhill shop blend or something else altogether, Mr. Faulkner had a wide spectrum of taste, but the 3 mentioned are usually listed as his favorites...
