(to complete the "The Jerk" reference....Things are going to start happening to me now!)
I was like a kid on Christmas morning when I got home from the prison today. Waiting for me on the kitchen counter was a lovely box from Pipes and Cigars.com. Inside? W.O. Larsen 1864 "Perfect Mix", Peterson Irish Oak and Peterson Sweet Kilarney. Guess the 7 Seas Royal is on its way. Now......which do I smoke first?
Decisions, decisions.

Well Father good luck with your decision. I have the same problem, where to start. I love getting my orders in the mail, as you say its like Christmas morning almost.

When I first read the thread title I thought you were referring to Newminster

The new line is, however, available at Cup O'Joe's now; and it's pretty inexpensive.

Read about it in the article Newminster Pipe Tobacco Debuts from Villiger, and download a pdf of their product descriptions.

OK, so I broke open the Peterson's Irish Oak because I've never had a blend with Perique in it. Packed my Stanwell Zebrano Freehand with it and headed out on the back porch with a piping hot cup of Kenya AA. Watching the fog burn off between the ridges here in Eastern Kentucky with a pipe and coffee is one of the great joys of my life.
Enjoyed the Irish Oak. I wasn't really sure what to expect but the peppery taste of the Perique was a nice change of pace. I'm not sure I tasted much of the aging in "Sherry Barrels" that was talked about but I'll have to give this one another try, this time in my Meer (to see if I can bring out the full taste). All in all, a fine morning before work.

I think the Irish Oak is better the next day after opening. I think I need to get another tin...

Can't really go wrong with Petersons - I love their aromatics in particular. I suggest the Sweet Killarney next and if you haven't tried connoisseurs choice yet, add it to your next order its terrific. Happy Smoking Father

Congrats, Father. Glad you started with Irish Oak, I've a tin that's been sitting here for a few months, now I know I need to open it. Peterson's baccy needs a few bowls to figure out, and airing it out a bit helps too.
