The Comoy family that made pipes in London for more than a Century sold the company in

recent decades (the 1980s?) and stopped making pipes. They have recently resumed pipe

manufacture, but without any family members. The old pipes, before the company was sold,

were greatly admired. I haven't heard anything about the resurrected product. Are they made

in London? Are they in any way like the old pipes? Or are they a whole new brand except in

name? Does anyone have any experience with them, to know if they are quality products?

I was at the Annapolis Smoke Shop last weekend. They had about half a dozen of the new Comoys. The finish, stem work and drilling all looked great to me. They were priced around $125 at that shop.

I am not familiar with the old Comoy line. I think kashmir has several (or more) Comoys and knows them

pretty well. Off hand, I would say there is some attempt in the new pipes to pick up some of the design

and motif of the old ones, which is commendable, since I think there seems to be no involvement from

the old family and employee Comoy team. I think a corporation took over Comoy. The new ones look

good, traditional but not stogy.

I too have wondered how the new ones smoke. The only place I see them for sale (admittedly I haven't been looking too hard) is Cup O' Joes and they have them as "Made in England". Not sure whether that's accurate information, just passing it on. The other wonder I have is that COJ's shows the "Blue Riband" as being $150. :? Not sure what to think about that one and how it's going to affect the market. Time will tell.
