The Missing Link - Man Grabow Hunter

Here’s an interesting pipe. It’s a FrankenMeer or Gra-Bow-Wow-Wow or maybe a Hillbilly Hunter.

Either way it looked like a challenge and work has been extremely taxing and dark on my brain, so I needed a diversion and challenge.

It actually cleaned up easier than I thought. I left a little patina on the silver, because why not.

The chamber and shank cleaned up really well and the stem was simple.

I smoked it last night and it did great. It’s not a clencher, but you can’t have everything.

I forgot to add, the pipe dates to 1890 and the Grabow stem isn’t original. ??

I'd smoke that beauty at least once a day. Not sure I'd leave the cap on it, though.

That has charisma. Nothing like it on land or sea. Nice renovation, and not overdone -- some of the wear is part of the charm.

What was your procedure to clean the stem?

Micro mesh, water and elbow grease. I also put a little mineral oil at the end then wipe clean

This pipe was worse and I did exactly the same.
