A light drizzle now with rain and thunderstorms on the horizon and very raw out. Doing my best to keep it smokey with the Walt Cannoy Suede Billiard with white spigot stem filled with aged Ashton Brindle Flake.

I honestly don't know but I have also been aware of less of his pipes being offered.

I think Walt's been dealing with some health issues? I saw some facebook posts of him in the hospital a few months ago. He had been primarily doing the Cardinal House line, with only making Cannoy pipes here and there.
Walt makes a very nice pipe, and I hope he's feeling better soon if he isn't already.
Banjo, you've been on a Brindle Flake kick lately. Have you smoked the McClelland's revival? I'm curious as to how it compares to the original? Keep on keeping it smokey! :puffy:

He has been busy of late. I've seen him post up a few beauties with blue stems. Don't hear a lot of chatter about his pipes, but they are very nice.

Have only smoked Ashton Brindle Flake and not the revival, I am smoking only this aged tin and keeping the others for the cellar.

It takes a special turn of art to make a white stem really flash and pop, but that pipe does it. fish', you definitely have smoked more great pipes than anyone.

From what I've seen of Walt's work in pictures online, and looking at the price of Cardinal House pipes, I think it's a safe bet that those are some of the highest value pipes on the market.

I haven't actually seen a good closeup of the inside of a Cardinal House button (those are tricky to shoot), but just looking at pictures like this: http://waltcannoy.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Cardinal-House-Pipes-Munn-Bulldog-Handmade-Artisan-Briar-Pipe-by-Walt-Cannoy_4195.jpg

You can see that the shaping is clearly a cut above most other pipes in that price range.
Most of my British artisan pipes don't really excite in terms of the quality of the button. Nice blasts though and I do still appreciate the idea of oil treated Briar.

Ironically I've made a hobby out of cleaning up pipe buttons now, so if that's a fault I can compensate for myself then I still like to get cheaper pipes, or specially treated Briar from makers like Ashton (with full understanding that it may or may not have any significant impact on smoking quality).
