Never thought I'd go for an egg shape pipe. They always looked a little balloon-like and not too appealing, but I finally found a Genod with a classic, sort of eighteenth century look, pre-English influence pipe that really appealed to me, a small pipe with an ample bowl. Anyone else have one of these pipes of this outlier shape? They are rarer than acorns, but still crop up, hither and yon. This is the most Francophile looking pipe I've seen, though I have Chacoms, BC's, a Villiard and a Chapuis-Comoy, and a Tinder Box St. Ives that has to be French, probably Chacom. Who makes egg shape on a regular basis? I don't think it's ever been taken up by the English, at least not Dunhill. But I do see them around. The incredible non-edible egg. The good egg. Egg on your chin. Etc.

I have a couple of eggs in my little collection. I'm not sure how close they are to yours in shape, you'll have to tell me how they compare. Both of mine are bent. One is a small group 3(ish) sized pipe by Jeremiah Sandahl. The other is a gigantic, 3 hour smoke, Mario Grandi. I like them both for the organic lines of the pipe. They flow well, and are great in the hand.

To me, "egg" is pretty loose as a descriptive category. This is the egg-iest pipe I have.

Although, this old Nørding looks pretty eggy too.

Wow, those are some great looking eggs. Where have they been all my life? The one I ordered is more traditional/historical looking, part of what caught my eye. Of course, SP has pulled it off the page, but if I can find a link to a picture of it, I'll post it. SP says they prompted the Sabastian Beo main man to start the Genod line for somewhat bigger bowls and wider airways, but this pipe seems to retain that original St. Claude aura, for me anyway. All the pics of egg shapes really provide the best of the shape here. All good.

Looks like I've got 4 eggs in my basket, but none on my chin right now.

fish', the Gourvelos captures almost the entire egg shape. The rustic finish and stem and metal work refinements really make a unique pipe.
Orley, the bottom two are extra egg-like, the top one, arguably brandy ... ?? But that's how shapes are. I had a Johs extra large that I considered a brandy for sure, and when I finally happened on the invoice, Mogen had declared it an apple, and so it is. Since my wife moved here after years in NYC, I call it my Big Apple, since it was a gift from her.

mso489, while the true beauty of the way Kostas blasted this pipe it has the look and feel of thousands of tiny diamonds he probably should have called it the Fabrege egg, and it smokes great!

The egg is a luscious laying out of wood, an excuse to showcase its beauty. The shape is mostly symmetrical, trades on its roundedness, elegant.

I noticed smokingpipes.com got in another pretty little egg shape Genod and went to copy the link for this post, but someone had bought it! This was a bent egg. They have another pipe they call an acorn, but that looks pretty egg-like to me. Nice Francophile shapes in that line, if you like 'em.

I have a BigBen Barbados egg that is a short full bent. Nice wide saddle bit, good size bowl, rides right on the chin when clenched. One of my favourite fishing pipes.
