At least I put the blame there. I had been looking over the Sherlock Holmes Original issues for about a week and ran across some articles that steered me to this one. It's the Watson with a nearly 2" deep bowl and from what I read, probably the best of the lot. Trouble was, I couldn't find one easily that wasn't "red" and I didn't really want that. Today I hit pay dirt in my diligence and found this one. Needless to say, it's now on it's way...all the way from merry ol' England. This should satisfy my deep bowl phobia for a while.

The specs weren't in the listing so I wrote him and asked. These are the dimensions he sent...
Bowl Height: 2.2"

Bowl Chamber Depth: 1.9"

Inner Bowl Diameter: 0.8"
So, I may get a full hour of this one for sure. I do like the grain, too and red wouldn't have done this one justice.

It's not a System pipe to the best of my knowledge. The Mark Twain series is but not the Holmes series. When I ordered a filter adapter for the Professor I decided to get two in case this one has the filter. Being European it could so, I'm prepared although there was no mention of that.
You can only lust for so long and then action is required. I figured I'd best jump on this before someone else did. I've lost a few before by procrastinating and learned my lesson.

Congrats on the find colcolt...I didn't see any pics posted, but from the title and the description is sounds like this (and this finish?):

If so, that's that exact pipe I have, coloring and all; it was my first "good pipe" my previous being a Sav unfinished second. It does have a big bowl, and will smoke a LONG time, but it fits nicely and feels very good in the hand...very solid.
When I was first looking a couple of years ago, I had my heart set on the Baskerville in that line, but it was sold out everywhere I looked, so I settled on the Watson since it's very similar in shape...can't even remember what the differences are...from looking at pics maybe the bowl on the Baskerville is slightly smaller?
Anyway, congrats...and it's a great smoking pipe too.
