God I love Jon Stewart and the Daily Show. If you haven't seen the bit he did on the smoking ban New York recently put in place against smoking in parks, boardwalks, and other public places check this out.

Well it's obvious that smokers are far more of a problem than all of those homless meth addicts. Good to see the state of New York has its priorities straight.

Wow! Hilarious but kind of sad. One more reason to stay the he// out of NYC!

it is easier, (and for the most part safer) to hassle most law abiding people for something like smoking than screw with crack heads...

taking into consideration the amount of dollars spent by tobacco users on taxes, especially in a place like NYC, i really don't understand why people don't organize formal protests. you have what 11 million people in NYC, and i think if you got a few thousand smokers to sit together in central park (since they are paying for it) they could all have a giant smoke in. hell i would drive to NY for that.

I'm ashamed to say that The Mayor of NYC was a classmate of mine in a few of my post-grad courses...

He had to drop most of them. He couldn't complete the course work... His excuse... He was running for Mayor. :D
Edit: He never liked me... and he didn't play well with the others either.

OMG. I just watched the segment online (yay Canada! Must watch on the Comedy Network.ca!) and it was amazing. How on earth did the "anti-smoking advocates" keep a straight face? That was a transcendent experience. I had no idea that there were people that... searching for the word... (mashes keyboard angrily)... in the world.

did you kick his butt, lawrence?
Yup... He didn't like a "lowly" buyer for Home Depot giving him assignments in a work-group.

Besides; I don't think his secretary could type his assignments and lick all of those stamps for his campaign. :D
I better quit before I have to moderate myself. :| :puffy:
No more comments from me on this subject. :D

"how are all those addicts behind you supposed to tweak properly with all of your secondhand smoke blowing in their face?"

I too enjoyed the "How are these people supposed to tweak properly" line. Can always count on the Daily Show for a good laugh while pointing out the obvious things that are always overlooked.
