Earlier this week, The Country Squire released their limited edition Polar Express blend.

Polar Express is a thoughtful blend of Virginias, Black Cavendish, and Burleys. These delicately flavored tobaccos come together to offer a taste reminiscent of our favorite cold-weather drink.

I'm not a big aromatic smoker but I wanted to give this a try because I really like the chocolate blends I keep in my cellar.. Bob's Chocolate, Chocolate Flake, and English Chocolate.

Obviously, they were trying to create a hot chocolate blend and I think they've come close. It is a super creamy and very mellow smoke with hints of chocolate, almond, and marshmallow. I also get a nice spice towards the end of the exhale and, more so, on the retrohale. Aftertaste is pure cream and does not linger too long.

Not a very complex smoke but I enjoy it. I only bought a single 2 oz. bag. Although I do think it's a good smoke, do I regret not buying more? No, not really, it probably isn't something I'd smoke regularly with all this said.

Recently got to pick up some unicorns from Country Squire and grabbed some samplers of theirs too.

Problem with their aromatics (and most tobacconist aros) is that the underlying tobacco is just mediocre and there isn't really an attempt to work the topping flavors in with the tobacco flavors.

I couldn't agree more. I'm a fan of their English blends by a long shot. However, their aromatics are kind of 1 dimensional. I don't really get any tobacco flavors and when I do, it's mediocre. This is why I refrain from most aromatics - I tend to enjoy the ones where the tobacco is forward and quality.
