Have you ever experienced how the change in seasons can affect the pipe tobacco blends you enjoy? Some people say they like Latakia blends in the winter and Virginia blends in the Summer, for example.
G. L. Pease explores this phenomenon in his latest article, "The Blends of Summer".

Very good read. I have discovered the world of cigars a few yrs ago as a result of the rediculous heat here in the summer, which was indeed too hot for my Latweed. I have also learned or got lazy w/cigars because in the summer things seem to always move faster, the pool, grandkids, the BBQ..etc..etc. Perhaps this year I'll take the summer off from my Pool Boy, Cabana Boy, Chef duties and try relaxing w/a pipe and try something 'lighter'.

A thoughtful article! As a "hobby" pipe smoker (one or two bowls a day only), I rarely smoke a latakia in the warm (read HOT) seasons. It just doesn't seem to fit the occasion like a bowl of Penzance in front of a fireplace on a cold winter night does.
