Scroll down till you get to Yachtexplorer and then look at his pipes. He also provides a link for better pictures of the pipes. I have never seen a collection like his. I bought a Scott Thile Cherrywoood from him and it was a great smoker for a lot of years. I hope you enjoy the show.

Hi Harris,

That's an old link and it no longer operates. That's a nice collection. Not the best I've ever seen, but pretty nice!

When I see a collection like that, it answers a question that haunts me: Am I just a pipe smoker or am I a collector of pipes, with the attendant psychological quirks? Answer: I'm a pipe smoker, with just a couple of overflowing racks to soothe a mere, sometimes annoying, lust. What a relief! Now I feel free to obtain more. Thanks for posting.

I didn’t know most of the user names in that thread so I started clicking on them to see the last time they logged in. Almost all of them show their start date and last log in date to be the same, which is sad. That is a beautiful collection though.

The best collection I ever saw by far was George Amron’s display at the 2013 Chicago Show. The common theme was all bamboos shanks, with best-in-class examples from many of the most famous carvers of the last 50 years. Sixten Ivarsson, Jess Chonowitsch, Bjorn of Sweden, Teddy Knudson, S. Bang, Wolfgang Becker, Cornelius Manz, Tokutami, Satou, Todd Johnson and Jeff Gracik were just some of the artisans represented. I took pictures and will try to dig up a few when I can. Unfortunately I was using a fairly early model iPhone, which combined with the glass backing to the display case means they’re pretty awful

That is the collection of Richard Friedman, a very interesting person! He owned a large yacht and made a living doing whale tours in Alaska, the boast was the Alaskan Song. Some of his tour links are dead, I'm not sure he is still doing this.

He also started making pipes with a sea-creature theme (not surprisingly).

He seems to have dropped of the pipe-radar map (many years ago, he participated in the old SmokersForums.UK forum).

Like the thread, unfortunately some aren't posting any more. That collection with the Tao pipes is fantastic, I think he makes the nicest pipes of the Danish carvers that are active now, totally out of reach at 4 to 5K.

I'd have to say it was the persentation that John Fabris gave me when I visited his home. For a Britwood enthusiast it was like looking at a carefully curated collection of the finest, rarest, and best condition examples of British pipe making art. Any single piece he showed me would have been a crown jewel in anyone's collection. I can't even begin to convey what he showed me.
