I have 7 cobs now - since they were a cheap buy - they all smoke beautifully. You have to smoke them a few times to get rid of the wood glue taste that is apparent in the begining. However, after a day or two - that goes away. What you have left is a good little buddy that smokes cool, has little flavor, augments all tobaccos well and if he falls apart - no worries - $5 and your in business again.

have a stock diplomat that i have been smoking at least daily for 9 months. no problem with burn through or any thing else for that matter. i always keep several on hand, (unsmoked virgins) in case someone has a desire so i can hook em up cheap.

Good point, in fact I picked one up this weekend at a local shop as a giveaway.

chispa, assuming you clean your briars, why wouldn't you clean your corncobs? I clean all my pipes completely after every smoke.
