I know I've been incredibly lucky with pipes and recently a change of fortunes has made it possible to get a couple pipes I never thought I would get. I have been searching for the following pipes for a short 5 months. One has not come up at all so when I saw it and got my tax refund the same day, I knew it was meant to be. My wonderful wifey agreed. I probably overpaid but it smokes so well and looks so good I don't care. The other one has come up a lot but for quite a bit of coin and this one came up for relatively little money (Brog money) so I got double lucky for these two pipes. I think I will put PAD to rest for a few months and spoil the wifey instead.
Top is a pre-transition Barling's make YOW Fossil EL. Haven't smoked it yet but it's clean and drying for a few days.

Bottom is a 1930s (I think) Comoy's Extraordinaire 499 with both the original stem and a lucite "smoking stem" with a 3 piece C.
Dave's happy. (sorry for the bad pic quality)

Thanks for looking.
EDIT: I know the stem on the Barling is pretty bad but it doesn't worry me much as I buy them primarily to smoke. After that, if they aren't to my tastes, my other option for them is to sell.

Those are some nice pieces, congrats man. I especially like the patterning on the right side of the Fossil, reminds me of contour lines of a map...the map to happiness haha

Congrats. I've been bitten by the PAD bug myself recently — always good to score some nice pipes.

Thanks for the responses. The hunt for the 499 is all thanks to Al who got his not too long ago and gave me hope and Marty Pulver for having a great stock of pipes.

Oh yeah, another problem with the Barling is the stamping is pretty light and some is almost gone but again, I'm a smoker, not a collector.
