The mailman was very, very kind to me today.

For the cellar, there's a pound of H&H Ten to Midnight and then there's a tin of Captain Earle's Ten Russians - a smoke I've been wanting to try for along time.
I also received a tobacco trade from Mr. Fitzy which includes Magnum Opus, Haddo's Delight, Penzance and GL Pease Navigator. Man, I am one happy camper.

Nice! I hopefully have my Falcon waiting at the post office, but my dad didn't get the mail when he went to town. Looks like I might have to wait till tomorrow.

Jim, nice score. I am a big fan of the Navigator and used to love Haddo's before it bit me too much. Haddo's has some of the best nose of any blend I have smoked, that puppy can bring tears to your eyes. It is a Perique bomb and one of the best vapers out there. Damn my allergic reaction to red virginia's, I really miss that one.

Just finished my first bowl ever of Haddo's Delight and the Perique was definitely upfront and tasty. As to the rest of the descriptions on tobaccoreviews.com, well, I just don't see it. Figs? Raisins? Really? I smelled burning tobacco and while the taste wasn't unpleasant - that first bowl was just a "Meh," for me.
The hell of it is, I'd really like to to enjoy this stuff. So many people I respect on this forum love these VAs and VaPers that I feel like I'm missing the boat, Harris.
I am trying.

Haddo's is something I like to smoke once every couple weeks. It's got it's own ideas about what it wants to give you. Little sips remind me of brown crusty bread. Bigger ones have a "woodish" twist to them. Strangely enough I like smoking it outside when it's damp. I don't think it's something I'll always have on hand. Maybe something I'll order once every couple of years.

@fnord I have the same problem with vas and vapers if I smoke them to fast, especially golden va, they just taste like cig tobacco. For me to get the figgy sweet flavor I have to sip slowly

If you draw on it freely, at least for me, you'll loose flavor

These qualities are typical in perique blends. Perique often adds a dried-fruit depth to a blend.
