Definately check out the thread paul is talking about. He's offered up a BOAT LOAD of tobys he's just WAITING to send to some poor unsuspecting pipe smoker. :puffy:

I have been getting into Virginias a lot lately. Orlik Gold Sliced is, in my opinion, the Gold Standard for Virginias. If you like Latakia, try some Mississippi Mud or some Pirate Kake by Cornell and Diehl. Like Burley? John Pattons Storm Front is a must. How about aromatics? Lane 1Q is amazing and I just recently ordered some Vanilla Custard by Altadis.

Since you like Captain Black Royal you might like the Mac Baren 7 Seas line. The 7 Seas Royal blend is very good and so is the regular. The royal is supposed to be a vanilla/fruit casing, but most people find it to be more of a rum/vanilla/caramel flavour. The Regular, which is my favourite, is a vanilla flavouring with a bit of chocolate.
Aromatics- Connoisseur's Choice by Peterson, Peterson Special Reserve 2011, McClelland's Best of Show, Mac Baren's Vanilla Cream (loose or flake cut), Sunset Breeze by Peterson, CAO's Eileen's Dream or Cherry Bomb, since you noted a few cherry blends might give Mac Baren's Cherry Amrosia a try as well it's a great cherry and Jamaica rum blend my only advice is to rub out the "broken flakes" yourself to keep the flavour more consistant
English/Latakia- Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe, or Nightcap, Mac Baren's Latakia Blend (Not an English/Latakia fan myself but I hear those are good starters)
Perique- Frog Morton on the Bayou (was my first Perique blend and loved the taste of it), or Robert McConnell's Scottish Cake (second Perique blend and enjoyed it as well)

This is some advice given to me from a new friend at the local pipe club when I told him I didn't yet know what I liked. He sail to try something from the four major groups:

1. Aromatics

2 Virginia blends

3. English blends

4. Burleys

I got a sample of each type from a nearby tobacconist and I'm having a great time learning what is what. If you are new to tobacco, experiment.

tried any of the frogs?

+1 on that suggestion from pawpaw!

I've just tried the FMOTT and FMOTB uber and oh my!

While they are certainly a break from the ones you list as having tried I'd suggest you consider these simply because they are chock full of rich, mellow flavor, burn amazingly well and I can't conceive how anyone would experience bite from em'.
Threads like these can be dangerous. All the various blends that are posted up simply spark TAD attacks for everybody!!
