Went home for lunch today and discovered a couple of boxes waiting for me!

Except for the Sutliff VA Slices they're all blends I've not tried yet. Might have to break in that Bruce Weaver pipe with the Bob's Chocolate Flake tonight or tomorrow. Or with the Smyrna. Or with...

Tobacco-wise I'm not familiar with most of them, but I do have a few tins of the JC Smyrma and it's quite tasty.

That pipe, on the other hand, is something else: stunning shape, gorgeous finish/stain/accessory combo. Enjoy!

Bruce's smaller pipes are as rare as horse feathers. His earlier pieces were at or just under chambers 1.5 inches deep. Around 2012, after a few of us wanted to see what he could do with large pipes, he actually made a few magnums. He was very receptive to his friends' and customers' suggestions.

The chamber size really works for me. Slightly smaller diameter with reasonable depth helps me get a good smoke with a desired duration. Wide chambers I have to load shallow for a shorter smoke which never seems to work well. With narrower chambers I can just load half way for a shorter smoke but a deeper chamber gives me a broader range of time to smoke.

Plus the pipe feels super light.

Looks like a nice haul. I've yet to pop the top on one of my Smyrna tins. Trust you'll enjoy in solitude or perhaps with your Bourbon pal. Either way... enjoy!

Many of even his largest pipes never exceeded a chamber diameter of .78" but there was a wide range of depths. As for weight, he had a knack for picking blocks for weight and grain. Even his largest pieces are light as a feather, as Sante would often demonstrate.?
