I was only around 7 years old during this time, but I've always been (even as a youngster) enamored with this time and place.

Sorry - the video won't show for some reason in the post. It's a short documentary of the Swinging Sixties in London.

My wife and I were teenagers during this time. Everything English was better than cool.
English cars were something you aspired to - the music was unbeatable, every guy wanted to be James Bond, or at least as lucky. The only thing close to it was the "American beach" stuff, and that was a poor second. We were lucky enough to see The Moody Blues and Donovan in concert.
I'll never forget how great my wife looked in a miniskirt with long blonde hair. Thanks for the memories!

I saw Moody Blues at a Long Beach, California, auditorium during the early-early 1970's

during evening liberty off my minesweeper, the USS Gallant. People got stoned en masse

and were taking off their clothes and standing on their folding chairs, and then I straggled

back to the bus, went to the locker club and changed back into uniform, and went across

the gang plank saluting the colors and then the quarter deck, per ritual. Talk about living

in two worlds at once. I think I saw the movie Woodstock on the mess deck in dry dock

in Guam trying to get the pitch system (adjustable propeller blade system) fixed, which

we never quite got right. My Age of Aquarius was a good deal different than many other

peoples'. But it was mind-blowing in its own way, and it didn't take pharmaceuticals.

You might say, I was stoned sober. How psychedelic could it get? I was seeing things

that were really there.

Great story - that was a pivotal time.

I was in London in the early seventies with my German girlfriend. Didn't do any swinging. The food was awful, the hotel rooms miniature and the pubs closed at 11PM. I liked the accents though.
