I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this post. Ain't nobody got time to read Sticky after Sticky.
Last night for my father's day evening bowl I fired up some SPC Plum Pudding Special Reserve in my new Savinelli Spigot Sterling 315KS Bordeaux. This is one of the best smoking pipes I have had the pleasure of utilizing as of yet. I have a number (30ish?) of Savs, Pete's, Nordings, Neerups, etc. Outside of my Ashton Dublin, this is far and away the best smoking pipe I have used so far.
I was particularly surprised because I am typically a fan of taller/skinnier bowls rather than shorter fatter ones. This pipe has changed that for me. I only gave this one a shot because Smokingpipes has an absolutely insane sale going on for Savinelli's Spigot Sterling line right now. The Bordeaux and Natural Smooth finishes (usually $300 and $400 respectively) are going for $125-$165 in 4 or 5 classic shapes.
I am not normally a person to pimp anyone's business outside of my own, but if you are a relatively new pipe smoker (like me) who has not quite worked up the nerve to drop the dough for a higher end pipe, and has ended up with a pile of $80 pipes in various shapes, I would strongly suggest taking advantage of this sale. There is a noticeable difference in the way this pipe smokes compared to my other Savs/Petes, and they are currently available at a much more reasonable price than usual. I just went back and nabbed myself another one in the natural finish. :D
If you are a seasoned vet, you already know about all this (probably even the sale) and I'm sure some of you will disagree with what I've said, but this experience was valuable to me, and could be for other new smokers, so I felt compelled to share.
Cheers! ::
