Sutliff Vanilla Custard Mixing Suggestions

I bought a pound of the stuff because I have an empty jar to fill. I’m about 50/50 on my love for aromatics. I have a feeling it will be too sweet for me. Do you have any suggestions for what I might be able to mix with it to cut the sweet and give it more strength? Thank you!

I really enjoy mixing aromatics with something gassy with a heavy portion of latakia - GLP Gaslight and Panna Cotta is something I turn back to repeatedly. I feel like a little aromatic goes a long way - usually I'm mixing 1:4 ratios.

It was too cheap to pass up. It’ll get smoked one way or another

I rub out and mix Sutliff Va slices (507C?) with some of their aromatics to give more tobacco flavor and cut the sweetness. Generally 30 to 50% Va slices.

You’re absolutely right. I only bought it because of its reputation. I do enjoy some aros but I figured I’d get a head start on possible options

You can also add a small amount to an otherwise blah Virginia. That touch of sweetness can often pick up a boring blend.

I've always had luck putting pinches of sweet aromatics in strong English blends. The sweeter the aromatics, the stronger the English.

I’ve been mixing aros with another aro, Stokkebye 315 Black Coffee. It’s a little sweet, but not as sweet as something like Vanilla Custard. The Black Coffee also goes well with the Hearth and Home Egg Nog in my opinion, and should work well with many others.

As already mentioned, you should try the Vanilla Custard by itself, it is quite tasty. I slightly prefer the Sutliff Crème Brûlée, but they both hit some similar notes. I don’t smoke a lot of aros, but they can be very enjoyable when the mood strikes. They also have fewer calories than actual dessert!
