I haven’t heard anything relating to the disposition of the Sutliff factory.

Will STG just auction off the equipment or sell the whole factory lock stock and barrel?

It would seem that whomever could swing the financing would have a turnkey operation. I’m probably overlooking myriad operational details and legal issues…

Thoughts?

I think a lot of the equipment can’t be transported as it would be cost-prohibitive and some of it will be, or has already been, scrapped. I’m not sure that any of it’s for sale but that would be a question for STG. I think a big part of the reasoning behind STG acquiring Mac Baren and Sutliff had to do with controlling such a dominant slice of the market share, so I’m not sure they’re too interested in relinquishing any of that market share by selling off assets to potential competitors.

The latter is pure speculation by me but it seems logical.

Buy out a competitor and then sell plant/equipment to another competitor? Doesn't sound like a winning business plan. Possibly, they'll junk much of it while finding a way to reduce their tax liabilities. I'm pretty sure the new owners had a plan in place before they purchased Sutliff. STG doesn't seem to do things half-assed. They appear fairly businesslike over the years.

Why me? Ooooh... because you want me to undervalue it, so that you could buy it. I get it, ha ha.
I was only half kidding . With your tobacco knowledge and you kind of have a ........presence .....a realtor would let you look the place over . Plus , I believe you've indicated that you travel .
Me , I haven't been out of Iowa in 15 years . Never been East of Chicago .

It would be interesting .
Probably just a "pipe dream". 😁

I could make it to Virginia in a daytrip. I'd be interested to see (smell) whether the whole place had that Sutliff proprietary casing aroma... or can you actually smell tobacco. puffy

I just passed it 15 mins ago.
It’s raining here and no tobacco odor anymore. Years ago that area with Sutliff, US Tobacco, Phillip Morris, Lorillard and the Warehouses really cranked out an aroma though.
