Last week I was in Tucson visiting family. At first I wasn’t going to bring my pipe - figured I’d take a break. Then I came to my senses and realized smoking my pipe would be the only way to get a little alone-time, so I packed a cob and a packet of Five Brothers, which unlike some people, I enjoy.

It turned out to be the perfect choice. It lasted just for the whole trip, wasn’t too harsh for mornings with coffee (well, a little rough on the stomach).

Anyway, I’ve now sort of lost my taste for OJK, which is what I usually smoke, and am thinking of only ordering more Five Brothers. I guess I’d save some money! It’s good stuff, IMO, plus a little easier on an empty stomach. Also VERY satisfying on a full stomach!

Give it a try. You can’t have too much Five Brothers on hand, and you can always switch back. I will be visiting relatives in Maine in a few weeks. My plan is to take two pipes and two tobaccos. I will take TM Petit Robin as my main smoke (kinda, sorta a milder version of Five Brothers, Semois burley with the same cut). I will also take an aromatic for when sitting around the fire with ladies present. My wife says Wilke Peanut Butter has the best room note, and I like it well enough, so I will probably bring that.

I wouldn't travel without my pipe, lighter and tamper. I may not end up smoking it but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I was thinking if I didn’t bring it I’d find out if I missed it or not, and get an idea if I was at all craving nicotine. I was fine without it for a full day of traveling/flying, so I guess that’s indication enough.

I wish I preferred five bros over OJK; there'd be savings in that preference.... Alas, I don't :) Even so, I do like five brothers. Perhaps my fave OTC tobacco?!

Looks they they're about the same price.
OJK may be a tad cheaper by the pound.

I do like the 5Bros, I keep several pouches on hand for both smoking on its own and as a blender when I need to bulk up or strengthen another blend without changing its character (casts some side-eye at Sutliff Mark Twain and Count Pulaski).

You and @didimauw got me thinking I should stock up on Five Brothers. I usually only keep one or two pouches on hand. I consider it a must have. I’m thinking of buying 10 to 20 pouches with my next order. t’s only going to get more expensive, and I would get the volume discount. I am not going to smoke it at the rate you guys do so some will be in the cellar for years. I wonder if I shouldI jar it or if it will it hold up in the cellophane wrapped pouches. It comes dryer than a popcorn fart so probably never know the difference. What do you think?

I'm just leaving mine in the pouches. But I also prefer my tobacco dry anyways.
