love them but man are they vicious. I saw two of them fighting once and one of them grabbed the other by his tongue and then proceeded to use it to body slam his rival on the ground.
They are aggressive male v. male during nesting season, but they never seem to kill each other. After they learn that they can't hold off the other guy forever, they become tolerant of each other. Wonderful to watch!

fun thing I didn't know that if you put a humming bird on it's back it will act completely stunned for about 20 minutes. Like bird vets (animal doctors, not birds that saw somethings in Nam) utilize it to give them shots and do surgery. The little guy just laid there not moving not reacting to getting poked I thought it was probably dead. Then it got up and flew off like nothing happened.
My favorite bird fact is that ducks swear. (you know when someone is swearing even if you don't speak the language) If you don't believe me wake one up.
