I normally smoke stuff like LJ Peretti Tashkent, GLP quiet nights and C&D Star of the East. But the other day I tried Boswell's Northwoods and Country Squire's cowboy coffee. Both blends had a very nice sweetness to them that wasn't overpowering, especially cowboy coffee. Excellent blends.

What are some blends you would recommend that have a subtle sweetness to them but aren't considered aromatics?

Special Virginia (formerly known as Mellow Virginia) - sweet raisiny, rummy, delightful OTC blend
Amphora Original (formerly Amphora Brown) - sweet chocolatey, nutty, delightful blend that alas only comes in 40g pouches

If you enjoyed Northwoods, then Boswell's Bear Blend could be a worthwhile option. They're similar. In fact, Boswell is known for lightly aromatic blends, so asking them directly may help you find other blends that are within that ballpark.

I'd say Pegasus is also a great choice. It's an old Bob Runowski blend that is nutty and slightly sweet.
Finally, Royal Yacht. It's technically an aromatic, but its topping is not cloying and its a solid Virginia with plenty of vitamin N.

If you enjoyed Boswell’s Northwoods and The Country Squire’s Cowboy Coffee, you may enjoy Sillem’s Black
It is a Latakia blend with a topping. I prefer this to Northwoods (which i have also)
The topping subsides with time. I have a tin that has been opened for 2 years, and the topping is now barely perceptible leaving a light Latakia note.

I know North woods is a cross over if I remember correctly. Which are also known sometimes as aromatic English. One my all time favs is Kramers blend for Cary Grant. There are many others and yeah there is something about that right in the middle where neither the aromatic or natural tobacco profile is more prominent.
I don't smoke a ton of aromatics but I tend to like ones that are sorta in the middle.

That's the best way to describe it. Somewhere right in the middle. I'll give that blend a try on my next order
