In Navy boot camp, if you were given responsibility for something, you became the “PO” (Petty Officer) in charge it. For example, if you were in charge of the laundry, you were the “Laundry PO”; if you were in charge of cleaning the Chief’s coffee pot, you were the “Coffee Mess PO”. If someone asked the Chief a stupid question, he sent them to me. I was the “Stupid Question PO”.
