Stuck at Six…

I’ve recently started getting really methodical about my pipes/tobaccos, taking photos, putting everything into a spreadsheet, etc.

Anyway, I was surprised to discover a pattern for some of my favorite pipe brands. Without setting any kind of goals or limits, I’ve ended up with six pipes each of Ascorti, Charatan’s Make, Comoy’s, and GBD. Other brands are represented too—I have 50 pipes overall—but I have the most of these four…and for some reason my purchasing stopped at six for all of them.

So now of course I’m on a mission to turn all of them into seven-day sets!

I'm sensing a Damien/"Omen" vibe with these "Revelations" so now I'm more worried about that than the fact when I read the title I was worried you only had six pipes!

Spreadsheets have a way of exposing data in insightful ways. For me I was completely surprised (gob-smacked) by the amount of money spent on pipes and in tobacco. That spreadsheet is carefully guarded and is "eyes only" for if SWMBO found it my goose would be well and truly cooked.

You know, I appreciate the recommendation…but I‘m never going to smoke a pipe with internal plumbing! It just goes against everything I believe a pipe should be.

That aside, though, nearly all of my pipe purchases have some connection to my pipe-smoking past, mostly based on preferences I acquired when working for about five years in a Tinder Box shortly after I started out. So far, the only exception is, I believe, a Kai Nielsen that won me over with its grain and craftsmanship.

I’m 5 pipes into a 7-day set of beautifully grained smooth BBB pipes.

My Danish Stanwells are all in sandblast. Theme for this set.

Perhaps GBD next!

Whatever makes collecting fun makes sense.
